Even before her surgery, Lola was an advocate for congenital heart defect awareness.

After her surgery she became a strong voice in the Congenital Heart Defect (CHD) community lobbying for mandatory Pulse Ox screening for newborns and that CPR training becomes available for high school students, and eventually become a graduating requirement in schools islandwide.
