Even before her surgery, Lola was an advocate for congenital heart defect awareness. After her surgery she became a strong voice in the CHD community lobbying for mandatory Pulse Ox screening for newborns and that CPR training becomes available for high school students, and eventually become a graduating requirement in schools islandwide.

Nowadays, she works on campaigns in schools and communities, educating on congenital heart defects and the need for more funding and research.
